Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream… How Have I missed this Gem?

8 hour cream

Whilst reading magazines, so many celebrities talk about their love of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, it has become something of a ‘Cult Classic Product’ . I always used to think I must try it. However, one day while watching a friend using it I saw the colour of the cream as it came out of the tube, (it’s a shade of apricot at first, then appears clear once applied), I was completely put off.

Fast forward, a couple of years and yet again I read that the gorgeous Alesha Dixon uses it in ‘Now Magazine’. She wrote, ‘This is my handbag essential – perfect for when my skin is a little dry.’ So I decided to give it a go myself. I got hold of a sample and I haven’t looked back. My 7ml sample is almost gone within a week!

The best thing about this product is that it has so many uses. This was typified when an unexpected visitor turned up at my house and I had absolutely no make up on. I looked in my handbag and found my brush to quickly go through my hair . Suddenly, I realized there was no make up in my bag , disaster! I definitely didn’t want this person seeing me au natural, today! However, there in my handbag was my sample of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, I had it in my bag just to use on my hands in the cold weather. So firstly, I added a little to my lips and was suprised how glossy it made them look and it didn’t feel sticky at all, I was impressed. I then put a little on my eyelashes to try to tease them into looking a little more voluminous. Then lastly, I decided to use some on my eyebrows to keep them all nice and neat. As I applied the Eight Hour Cream, it also lifted the skin and eyelid, so I looked much more awake. It was brilliant, I even got a comment about how ‘fresh faced’ I looked, and that is without ANY make-up! On the Elizabeth Arden Website it explains more about the cream:

*It protects, soothes and moisturises skin.

*Soothes dry skin and provides anti-inflammatory benefits.

*Soothes and comforts minor weather burns, scrapes and abrasions.

Here’s ‘The Legend’ behind the cream.

‘Created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden to soothe skin, Eight Hour® Cream Skin Protectant became an instant and overwhelming success. What made it so effective is a combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy in one of its first cosmetic uses, and vitamin E. The apricot coloured balm was so beneficial to her clients, Miss Arden used it to soothe her famous thoroughbred horses’ legs. Even its name came about thanks to a remarkable performance – a loyal client used it to treat her child’s skinned knee and eight hours later the skin was all better!’

It has won 22 international beauty awards including:

  • Cosmopolitan Beauty Awards 2010:
    Cosmo Beauty Classic Award
  • Irish Tatler Beauty Awards 2010: Best Hero Multi Tasker
  • Top Sante Glow Health and Beauty Awards 2010:
    Best Iconic Product
  • Elle Beauty Awards 2010
