Sheridan Smith is a bit of a heroine of mine. In a previous life I was a dancer and had a keen interest in all performing arts, I still do. Although no longer able to dance I like to keep updated about productions, plays, musicals and that sort of thing and I especially love award season. On Sunday evening the Whatsonstage.com Awards in London took place and I was pleased to see that once again Sheridan Smith had been given an award. This year the award was for Best Actress in a Play, for Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic. I really think she needs to win just all the awards, she is that talented! Maybe not Best Actor award though, now that would just be silly!
Smith absolutely stunned in her sequin medi dress, nude heels and matching sequin clutch. Shining like the star she is. What I like about Smith is her amazing capability to morph her appearance to suit which ever character she is playing, she becomes the character so intrinsicly that when we see her as herself at awards ceremony it’s so lovely to see this glamourous, fun, young woman who has so much character of her own.
She is also a critically acclaimed West End actress, having won TWO Olivier’s in two consecutive years: in 2011, the award for ‘Best Actress In A Musical’ for playing Elle Woods in Legally Blonde; and in 2012 Best Performance In A Supporting Role’ for her performance as Doris in the revival of Flare Path. I absolutely loved her look in Legally Blonde, so kitch and fabulous!
Here are just some of the fabulous characters that the beautiful Sheridan has played..
