Oooh what a luxury it is to use Badger’s Sleep Balm! It has become a permanent resident on my bedside table along with my eye mask and sound machine, (can you tell I have trouble sleeping?). If you are like me, and getting to sleep isn’t always as easy as it sounds, I really feel that you too, would benefit from this ‘little tin of peacefulness’.
I have used this product for months, I am incredibly impressed with it. However, if you suffer from serious insomnia please don’t be expecting it to be a miracle cure. Obviously, it’s not going to send you straight off to the land of nod after the first application, but it will certainly help you get there quicker.
There are many benefits of using this revolutionary balm; the deliciously deep and fragrant aromatherapy oils work their magic as they are inhaled. The body and mind relax in response to the calming lavender, bergamot and rosemary. The soothing motion of application helps one unwind and helps one focus on relaxing before reaching sleep, rather than constant clock watching. I spend five or so minutes applying the balm, it helps get me in a relaxed state of mind for bed.
Badger describe the benefits of their Sleep Balm on their website:
The fragrance of the essential oils in this special balm helps to calm thoughts and clear the mind, allowing sleep to come naturally.
There are no drugs or narcotics in this product – no side-effects to worry about. It is safe and natural.
Portable tin – makes an ideal travelling companion
I always find that by using the balm on both the temples and the wrists, it doubles the amount of fragrance that is having therapeutic benefits .
Another thing I would suggest is creating a night-time routine, as I mentioned earlier I have an eye mask and sound machine and along with my ablutions, and Badger Sleep Balm, those things all contribute to my nightly routine.
I obviously cleanse, tone and moisturise every night without fail, I usually do it in bed so that it feels like a pamper treatment rather than a task I must fit in, that would get me stressed. I then take my vitamins which makes me feel good, next I turn my sound machine on and apply my sleep balm. Therefore, every time I hear the sound machine/ wear my eye mask/smell that particular fragrance of Badgers Sleep Balm, I immediately associate it with sleep. It is really good to have positive associations with going to bed rather than focusing on your struggle to actually sleep.
Badger state that Sleep Balm is for;
For Poetic Badgers & Other Restless Wanderers. A dreamy night balm rich with precious oils to calm, encourage, cheer and relax poetic Badgers and other restless wanderers. Badger Sleep Balm doesn’t make you sleepy and it is not a drug, rather this natural sleep enhancer uses a sophisticated blend of essential oils to help quiet your thoughts and clear your mind, then you fall asleep naturally. Rosemary is the traditional herb for clear thinking, confidence, and memory. Bergamot is mentally uplifting, and Ginger is strengthening and confidence-inducing. Balsam Fir is refreshing, like a walk in the woods, while Lavender is the traditional sleep herb: fresh and relaxing. This balm is perfect for those nights when you can’t seem to stop the mind chatter!
My own relationship with sleep has been troubled for a few years now. I can’t fall asleep or stay in slumber due to the severe pain which I feel. However, since using this balm I might not have gained extra hours of REM, but my attitude towards night time has completely changed, and has added a sense of relaxation even during the most traumatic and painful nights.
Plus, I simply love Badger, their whole company is ‘top-notch’ on an ecological, ethical and moral level.
I just adore their mission:
